The Composers Summit Prague Award by Marie Boková gives form to the dialogue that lies at the heart of making music. Two bird figures, set in a vertical composition with a Minoan inflection, stand facing each other in a tense and yet harmonious relationship. The ceramic sculpture captures the moment when a musical impulse is born in the interplay between a composer's inner world and the space that receives the work.

Marie Boková (b. 2000) is a student at the Studio of Ceramics and Porcelain at UMPRUM in Prague and completed a study stay at the National Taiwan University of Arts in Taipei. Her work brings space and ceramics together, from the intimate scale of objects that enter everyday life to interventions in public space. She is interested in corporeality and in the capacity of a work to carry the imprint of the relationship between body and environment.

She starts from the figure, which she connects with the morphology of animals and plants in restless parallels. She works primarily in large formats with ceramics, which she combines with wood, metal and wax. Her sculptures oscillate on the edge between poetry and unease.

Her work is currently on show at the PLATO gallery in Ostrava, in the exhibition Půda & Přátelé. She lives and works in Prague.
