Výstaviště 170
New Spiral
A legendary Prague stage in a new coat. The building went up in 1960 as the panoramic cinema Moskva. In 1991 it became the Spirála theatre, which later grew into one of Prague’s iconic musical venues.

After the devastating floods of 2002 Spirála stayed closed for more than two decades. Following an extensive reconstruction it reopened as Nová Spirála. The main hall offers up to 800 seats, and its circular 360° layout puts every seat in direct contact with what happens on stage. In the 1990s one of the greatest phenomena of Czech musical theatre was born here: Jesus Christ Superstar, which ran for an incredible 1,288 performances and drew almost 850,000 people. Today Nová Spirála is a modern multi-purpose space that combines concerts, theatre, musicals and other genres. With its revolving stage and auditorium in the round, it offers a truly unusual experience.
